Welcome to first edition of LDTP (Linux Desktop Testing Project) newsletter. As LDTP is getting more community attention, we see its widespread acceptance as the standard framework for testing and certifying Linux Desktops. This newsletter aims to inform about the developments happening in LDTP and a road map to the future developments. LDTP newsletter will be at your doorstep soon after every community release including the frequent dot releases.

What is LDTP ?

Linux Desktop Testing Project (LDTP) is aimed at producing high quality test automation framework and cutting-edge tools that can be used to test and certify GNU/Linux Desktops.

Releases

LDTP is now at version 0.1.7. You can download it from here

This release includes the following

  • Application mapping has been enhanced with the introduction of relative index (Nagappan – 'nags')
  • Bug Buddy (Nagappan 'nags')
  • Many enhancements to the component objects which allows one to test the GUI elements more precisely
  • Changes to Logging with some valuable suggestions from Luis Villa.
  • Window selection now uses window-id (Shankar Ganesh 'shagan')
  • Test Scripts for Evolution Mailer (Premkumar ‘prem’)
  • Test Scripts for File Roller (Nagashree ‘mnagashree’ and Vishnu Kumar)
  • Test Scripts for Bug Buddy (Nagappan ‘nags’)

Coming up ....

Develop more functionalities for the component objects to obtain text properties.

A “Test Recorder” generating test scripts automatically which would be a major leap towards achieving a fully functional automated testing framework.

Test scripts for Evolution calendar, tasks and contacts, gedit, eog, gnome search tool and gnome dictionary
